Step-by-step itinerary

Eco Tips inside the route

In the Andes wear proper trekking shoes and never leave the marked trails. In the Amazon use only natural insect repellent and avoid strong chemical products. Carry a reusable water bottle everywhere and never throw any waste in nature. In both regions choose guides who belong to local communities and respect their knowledge. Keep noise levels very low especially during wildlife observation.

Mistakes to avoid

Trying to chase animals for better photos is one of the biggest mistakes in the Amazon. Always let wildlife come to you naturally. In the mountains some travelers ignore altitude symptoms and push too hard, this can ruin the whole trip. Another common error is bringing too much single-use plastic, especially snacks and drinks.

Alternative options

If you have less time you can shorten the mountain part and make it a 10-day trip. For a tighter budget replace the jungle lodge with a more basic community camp, though comfort will be lower. Those who want even stronger nature focus can add more full trekking days in the Andes instead of spending time in Cusco.
